Nanxun and Happy Feet

Today, the group escaped the city crowds and visited Nanxun, one of the many ancient water towns surrounding Shanghai. We toured beautiful gardens and buildings, had a relaxing boat ride through the town, learned about silk production, ate traditional Nanxun noodles, sampled some of the local desserts, and experienced Chinese history. Some of the students particularly enjoyed trying on traditional Chinese clothing (and posing for photos, of course). All of the students left more knowledgeable about Chinese history and what life was like in a traditional Chinese town.

After all the walking the past few days, we decided to treat ourselves tonight with foot massages (which conveniently included back, shoulder, and leg massages). Lots of happy feet now resting at our hotel. We’ll be back soon with more updates from Shanghai, until next time!
